I recently had an amazing day out at Bighorn lookout stacked with back to back mini sessions. I was in the middle of photographing the sweetest family, when a friend of C & G let us know a proposal was about to happen right behind us!
We all turned and watched as C dropped to one knee and surprised G, as a stunning heavy fog started to roll into the mountain backdrop. We all clapped and sent our congratulations their way, and then carried on with the family session.
Once the excitement settled and I had a free moment, I went over to congratulate them and asked if they'd like me to capture a few photos to celebrate. Thankfully, they said yes, and what started as a chance encounter quickly turned into one of the sweetest, most spontaneous engagement sessions.
We started with just a few quick minutes as the fog kept rolling in, and I had another couple arriving for their session. I got their information and carried on. But about 30 minutes later, I caught C & G again in the parking lot just as the rain started to really come down. This is where the fun really started for us.
It was like a cinematic atmosphere that felt like it had been made just for them. So we made the absolute most of another free 5 minutes, and ran right into the downpour. We joked that we had somehow stepped straight into a scene from Twilight, which is exactly what they had envisioned for their proposal. The vibes were very "hoa hoa hoa" (iykyk).
This session is proof that some of the best moments are the ones you never plan for. A surprise proposal, a rainy mountain evening, and two people completely wrapped up in the excitement of saying "yes."
Congratulations again to G & C on your engagement! Thank you for letting me be a small part of such an unforgettable moment. I wish you both a lifetime of laughter, adventure, and many more unexpected moments together.
